My family has stayed in many hotels, B&B’s, and hostels over the years. A few hotels in Europe have left a favorable impression and I consider them the very best places to lodge. A secure environment, comfortable bed, clean room, with reliable service are essential to my lodging considerations. Our son has stayed in some respectable and clean hostels on multiple occasions. He uses Hostelworld in making his choices.
My list of favorite hotels are shared in the following:
Austria
Hallstatt, Austria–Seehotel Gruner Baum and Heritage Hotel are perfectly situated on Hallstatt Lake. Rooms are nice with balcony options overlooking the lake. Breakfasts and dinners were excellent.
Salzburg, Austria–Boutiquehotel am Dom is on a narrow side street close to the Museum of Salzburg. Our rooms were modern and comfortable. Breakfast included buffet items and eggs cooked to our liking.
England
London, England–Lime Tree Hotel is popular and I can see why. It’s a beautiful, small, hotel with warm decor, where I can enjoy a pot of tea in my room any time of day. Connected to the hotel is The Buttery serving a wonderful breakfast and lunch.
North Lake District, England–Keswick Country House Hotel is reminiscent of an English manor. The rooms were large and charmingly decorated. It is the breakfast and dinners that are the most impressive.
France
Loire Valley, Amboise, France–Chateau de Pray is conveniently located, and reaching surrounding area chateaus is easy with a car. The hotel looks like a miniature castle with rooms pleasantly decorated. The breakfast, served in an attractive dining area, is excellent.
Florence, France–Grand Hotel Baglioni is large and impressive. Our rooms were great, and the large dining room served excellent breakfasts and dinners.
Ireland
Dingle, Ireland–Greenmount House is family owned and reflects personal touches throughout with cozy furniture and a welcoming common area. Our rooms were very nice and the breakfast was one of the most delicious I have experienced in Europe.
K&K Hotels, located throughout Europe, in particular in London and Vienna where we stay, have very nice rooms, breakfasts, and service.
